The vast majority of UK universities (including the University of Cambridge) still recognise HKDSE results as an admission condition.
Students only need to search for "international qualifications" on the university website, then search "Hong Kong" to find relevant information (see last page for details)
Taking UK G5 universities as an example, the websites of these five universities still state that they recognise HKDSE results. Therefore, students do not need to worry that taking HKDSE will reduce their chances of being admitted to UK universities
Many UK universities have already issued offers to students in the current 2024 intake with HKDSE academic requirements as a condition for admission
Many current Form Six students have already received conditional offers from various UK universities (including the University of Cambridge)
Among them, students studying HKDSE have also received HKDSE academic requirements as conditions for admission
Understanding that many students are concerned about changes in UK university HKDSE academic requirements for 2024 or beyond, the following are excerpts from the UK G5 universities' websites regarding the Civic and Social Development subject (hereinafter referred to as Citizenship Subject) academic requirements
University of Cambridge: General applicants are required to achieve a "Pass" grade, i.e., "Attained"
University of Oxford: General Studies results were not considered in 2023 or before, and the current DSE academic requirements do not mention the Citizenship Subject
London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE): The current DSE academic requirements do not mention the Citizenship Subject
Imperial College London: Different subjects have specific academic requirements for various DSE subjects, and currently, there is no mention of requirements for the Citizenship Subject
University College London (UCL): The current DSE academic requirements do not mention the Citizenship Subject
How can one find out more about the latest information on overseas university HKDSE entry requirements?5
If students are unsure whether other universities will continue to accept HKDSE as an academic requirement, they can also email the university's Admissions Office
Students can also continue to monitor the official websites of various universities and the latest news from the HKEAA.
