Is it difficult to get into prestigious UK universities with DSE?

Most UK universities accept Hong Kong's DSE as an entry requirement, and many students apply to prestigious UK universities with DSE. For example, Oxford made 13 offers based on HKDSE in 2022, and Cambridge made even more, with 30.

Currently, many prestigious UK universities provide direct/converted DSE admission requirements. In fact, the academic requirements for DSE public exams for Oxford, Cambridge, and the G5 universities are even lower than some so-called "divine" (highly competitive) courses in Hong Kong.

DSE Subject Selection

Different courses have different academic requirements. However, each institution may have different DSE academic requirements for the same subject.

Some subjects require DSE candidates to take three to four electives, such as Law and Chemistry at Oxford, Human, Social, and Political Sciences at Cambridge, and Business at UCL.

Other subjects require candidates to take specific subjects, such as Further Maths and Chemistry.

When applying to Cambridge, each college may have slightly different admission requirements for the same subject, so students should pay attention to the requirements listed on relevant websites when choosing subjects.

Admission Tests

Studying DSE also has its advantages. For example, DSE students are more proficient in Aptitude Tests, giving them a head start. However, the scope of admission tests is generally based on GCE A-levels. Therefore, students need to spend time self-studying knowledge beyond the DSE curriculum when preparing.

Students taking DSE and interested in applying to G5 universities, good luck!
